Today, a Memorandum of Understanding between Egypt and the EU was signed in the framework of COP27. This Memorandum lays out the pillars of cooperation on #renewablehydrogen ➡️ The European Union and Egypt reaffirm their determination to combat #climatechange and environmental degradation, while fostering sustainable development, #energysecurity and a balanced and just #greentransition. ➡️ Renewable hydrogen is jointly seen as a key contributor to reducing #emissions and ensuring energy security, while representing an opportunity for industrial cooperation, sustainable economic growth and job creation. ➡️ A long-term partnership on renewable hydrogen will enable both partners to accelerate the #decarbonisation of their energy systems through the development, deployment, use and undistorted trade of renewable hydrogen and its derivatives. ➡️ The EU and Egypt will take the measures necessary to accelerate the deployment of renewable power generation as critical enabler for the production of renewable hydrogen and as an essential element for the transition towards decarbonised energy systems. #Investments are intend to be facilitated and promoted for boosting the #production, #storage, #distribution and #transport of renewable hydrogen and its derivatives. ➡️ Particular attention will be paid to carefully assessing and integrating potential environmental concerns in the design and implementation of policies promoting the renewable hydrogen industry, in particular in relation to the use of water.
